Sean O’Neill, CFA

Managing Partner, Director of Research

Sean is Director of Research and a portfolio manager. He oversees the research team, and is responsible for all aspects of research and portfolio management. He joined the firm in 2010 as Director of Research and an Equity Analyst. In 2022, he purchased a majority stake in Doheny Asset Management and took on a management role. Prior to joining the firm, he worked with a large and varied number of high net worth and institutional clients for three independent
investment advisory firms since beginning his professional investment career in 1994. Sean received his Chartered Financial Analyst designation in 1996 and is a member of the Los Angeles Society of Financial Analysts and the CFA Institute. Sean graduated from the University of California at San Diego in 1989, where he majored in Quantitative Economics and Decision Sciences and minored in Mathematics and Literature.


James Morton

Equity Research Analyst

James joined the firm in 2023 as an equity research analyst. He analyzes potential equity
investments in mid cap companies. He specializes in finding growing addressable markets and
identifying management teams with technically dominant products that have an opportunity
take significant market share. James has had a passion for investing from a young age and
holds his series 65 license. He graduated from the University of Southern California with a
degree in accounting.


Trey Doheny

Client Relationship Manager

Trey Doheny is the Client Relationship Manager for Doheny Asset Management. He also helps run the Back Office, assists in covering companies in the entertainment sector and is responsible for communicating with the banks and custodians our clients use.

He started with Doheny Asset Management in 2012 after working in the film industry as a Creative Executive. Trey has worked for many major entertainment companies including The Walt Disney Company, Fox and International Creative Management (ICM).
 
Trey graduated from Loyola Marymount University in 1998 with a degree in English Literature.
